Review spending before the next period starts

A chart cannot decide what you value, but it can show where your plan moved. Start with the remaining budget and your top variable category. Those two numbers often tell you where to look first.
Open the category view for the period and inspect the transactions behind a large total. A single purchase calls for a different response than five small purchases spread through the month. Record whether an expense was necessary when you add it, then use that detail during review.
Look at savings beside spending. A period can fit the budget and miss a goal you wanted to fund. Saving goals connect the target to the transactions you set aside, which makes progress easier to discuss at the end of the period.
Choose one adjustment for the next cycle: change a budget amount, pause a fixed cost, or set a savings contribution. Small decisions make the next dashboard more useful than a long list of observations.
